To Be Determined
This is a comedy class and workshop. It is designed to be a fun, supportive, safe place for students to create their first 5 minute set, or punch up an existing act. The class will culminate with a professional comedy show at Wellingtons Grill in Harrison New York on Saturday March 2nd from 11:00a.m.- 5:00 p.m followed by a live performance that night. Listed below is the general outline of the class. This class will be small so that each participant will get very personalized attention.
Address:
110 Halstead Avenue
Harrison, NY 10528
Supplies:
Bring a notebook, working pen, a phone or video camera (charger as well). We will tape you so you can watch yourself and see your performance when you go home. Seeing yourself is often the best teacher, it will also help you to know what you want to work on and where you need improvement.
How to prepare:
We will cover how comedy works, the art of the joke, set-up and punch, you and your comedic voice, why comedy and why now. You will bring a pre-written 5 minute set. In this class will work it out. Come with an empty notebook ready to write, work, be open, and know you will be safe and supported through this entire process. We will spend most of the day writing, re-writing and finding your funny! It is also the time we work on being a wordsmith, fixing the set-ups and working on powerful punches. This is where you begin to come up with your premise, your persona, your comic voice! Then... show time!
We will have a working lunch provided by Wellington's Grill. It is a day where you will be totally focused on you, your act, and performance. It is a fun day where your dream and talent is supported by everyone in the class.
